Co-Counsel & Local Counsel

If you are a lawyer interested in talking with us about a local or co-counsel arrangement, please explore our recent cases wherein we have teamed with other law firms. We have enjoyed great relationships with other firms and always strive to add value when brought on board.

Here are a few examples of pending cases wherein we are working with other law firms:

United States District Court, Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division

We are representing a national supplier against a large competitor in litigation pending in Texas. Our client is suing for penalties under the federal false marking statute and for disgorgement of the competitor’s profits under the Lanham Act, as well as under Texas common law.  We are handling this case alongside a prominent Texas firm.

Lucas County, Ohio Common Pleas Court

We are representing a putative class against the City of Toledo and a private contractor regarding Toledo’s traffic camera program.  We are asking the court to certify a class against Toledo and the private contractor, which oversees  Toledo’s program. We are asking the court to order the defendants to return all monies collected under Toledo’s program.  Our pre-suit investigation showed that Toledo never adopted procedures under which a cited motorist could properly and fairly dispute liability.  Moreover, we are arguing that Toledo’s program suffers several due process and other legal deficiencies. We are handling this case alongside a national plaintiff’s firm.

Sandusky County, Ohio Common Pleas Court

We are acting as local counsel for a contractor in a major breach of contract claim against a municipality.  The contractor is the plaintiff and the case involves a dispute over a construction contract. We are local counsel for the client’s lead counsel, who is based out of the Columbus office of a leading national law firm.

United States District Court, Norther District of Ohio, Western Division

We are representing an IT worker against his former employer for federal and state overtime law violations.  We are handling this case with a firm with significant plaintiff-side employment law expertise.

Sandusky County, Ohio Common Pleas Court

We recently completed representation of a Mumbai, India based manufacturer. We defended several claims brought by a local Ohio business. The claims stem from the client’s operations at its United States facility in Tennessee.  We worked closely with the client’s Tennessee counsel in order to achieve a favorable resolution.

In addition to these cases, we recently completed representation on behalf of a Chicago-based supplier of media products.  The client was sued in Wood County, Ohio and we were retained by one of the largest law firms in the world to help defend the case.

Last year, one of the largest law firms in Ohio retained us to act as its local counsel on behalf of a major insurance company.  The company sued for trade-secret theft and violation of a non-competition agreement. After discovery, our client achieved a confidential settlement with the defendants.

We also have working relationships with other law firms outside of the litigation arena. One of Ohio’s leading election law practice groups routinely refers election and ballot-initiative disputes to our office for representation before local boards of elections.  This has lead to our representation of major companies and a large political party in hotly contested administrative disputes.  We have also represented individual candidates in administrative proceedings and in court.
